Zniknęła tablica biskupa z XVII w. Pomóżmy odnaleźć zabytek

Z wieży bramnej w Braniewie zniknęła tablica piaskowa biskupa Szymona Rudnickiego pochodząca z XVII w. Członkowie Towarzystwa Miłośników Braniewa proszą o pomoc w odnalezieniu zabytku.
Podczas oględzin wieży bramnej w trakcie konferencji popularno-naukowej Krańce Europy III, która odbyła się w dniach 5-6 września w Braniewie, a była poświęcona architekturze starego Braniewa stwierdzono, że zniknęła tablica piaskowa biskupa Szymona Rudnickiego pochodząca z XVII w.

— Zabytek ten jest zapewne w tej chwili w nieuprawnionych do tego rękach, a jego miejsce jest w Braniewie lub w którymś warmińskim muzeum — uważa Wojciech Jaroszek z Towarzystwa Miłośników Braniewa. — Tablica musiała być wykradziona już jakiś czas temu, ale uważam że mieszkańcy Braniewa nie mogą przejść do porządku dziennego nad utratą kolejnych zabytków naszej braniewskiej ziemi, a w tym przypadku świadczących o jej polskiej przeszłości, gdyż biskup Szymon Rudnicki był Polakiem z krwi i kości.

Brak tablicy zauważono już 23 kwietnia 2013 roku, kiedy otworzono wieżę razem z konserwatorem zabytków. Zdaniem miłośników historii naszego miasta, tablica musiała zniknąć przed zamurowaniem wieży.

Członkowie Towarzystwa Miłośników Braniewa proszą o pomoc w odnalezieniu zabytku.
